| Many new coal handling projects
With the acquisitions made over the last few years, FLSmidth now possesses a range of market-leading technologies and is a One Source for material handling systems used in a wide range of industries including coal-fired power plants. Indian projects First Mega Project The stockpile will have a 6,800 tonnes per hour (tph) stacking capacity and a 4,500 tph reclaiming capacity. In addition to the world’s largest bucket wheel stacker-reclaimers for coal, the system also includes a series of high-speed and high-capacity conveyors. Electrical systems and automation, dust suppression and fire fighting systems are also part of the contract. The Mundra Port project is being undertaken by Tata Power Company Ltd. for whom FLSmidth has previously undertaken material handling projects. Tata Power is a member of the Tata Group and is India’s largest private sector power utility.
The project includes a complete coal handl- ing system to convey coal from the ground hopper to the stockpile and then to the boiler bunkers inside the plant. Among the major equipment items are track hoppers, plough feeders, wagon tipplers, coal crushers, bucket wheel stacker-reclaimers and a series of belt conveyors. The system will be designed to handle 1,650 tonnes of coal per hour. NTPC is India’s largest power producer. With a current generating capacity in excess of 30,000 MW, NTPC has embarked on plans to become a 75,000 MW company by 2017. Vietnamese coal handling project The scope of the contract ranges from engineering, design and supply of all key components to supervision of installation and commissioning. The coal handling equipment which FLSmidth is to provide includes ship unloading and storage facilities with a capacity of 400,000 tonnes. The total length of the conveyors being supplied is around 8 kilometres.
